LES 10 MEILLEURS restaurants français Aix-les-Bains

Any suggestions on some towns or villages to visit that are also good places to live between Lyon and Geneva, and maybe north of Grenoble? Trying to find something large enough to have a decent amount of shops, supermarkets, and restaurants/bars, but not in a major city.
Aix Les Bains looks really nice, but I'm guessing that's super expensive. Are there any towns around Aix Les Bains and Annecy that are more affordable than being directly in those towns, but still easy access?

Marie-Agnès Cordonnier and Francoise Bruyère were two 22-year-old cousins from Liège Belgium who decided to travel by train to France and practice windsurfing in the lake Bourget in Aix-les-Bains. It was August 20 1984 when Marie-Agnès, who was finishing law school and Francoise who was a physiotherapist arrived by train, in Macon in Bourgogne France and made a call to their parents back home. Then, they called a friend they had met the previous year, André Caboti who lived near Charolles. They hitchhiked and a truck driver picked them up from the train station and drove them to André and there, they met another friend, his brother in law Patrick Pagani. They stayed there for two nights.

On August 22, André, his young son and Patrick drove the two Liegeoises to visit vineyards in the area and also had lunch. Then they drove them to Saint Laurent Bridge on Saone River in Macon around 6 pm. There, Patrick took their last known photo. The photo can be seen in the link below. Pictured with them in the photo is André’s son. In this photo, Francoise can be seen writing on a board Aix-les-Bains, the place they wanted to hitchhike. They planned to return to Macon on August 25. They had to be back in Belgium by August 31st since they had to attend a wedding on September 1st. Patrick suggested that they travel by train but they refused as they insisted on hitchhiking to Lake Bourget.
When Marie-Agnès and Francoise didn’t contact their parents for a few days, the worried parents contacted their daughter’s friends in France. Marie-Agnès and Francoise would never be seen again despite an unprecedented search operation and the notification of Interpol as well. There were many testimonies, not verified, that they were seen in Lille, and other places. Friends came from Belgium and joined the search as well.

Police officer
A police officer, Jean-Yves Michellier a few years after the disappearances restarted the investigation from the beginning. He thinks that Marie-Agnès and Francoise stayed for the night in Macon, perhaps they didn’t find a lift on August 22 and it was getting very late.
August 23 - They have a testimony from a grocer that they walked into his shop on the 23rd to buy something.
They also have two testimonies from two car drivers. The first picked them up and dropped them up outside of the commune of Bordeaux.
The second picked them up from Aire de Charpignat a kilometre away from where the first driver left them and dropped them up in Bassens. There, he offered to take them to his apartment to freshen up. Francoise called the number of the truck driver who gave them a lift from the train station in Macon. But the call was picked up by Mr. X, who was not the driver that they had met before but somebody else.
Mr. X arrived and he waited in the car and the two girls climbed in.
August 24 - Mr. X person returned to a barestaurant, that the two young women went while in Aix-les-Bains, the following day and the owner asked him how did it go with the two young ladies and he replied:
‘It went very very bad’
Afterwards, Mr. X moved to Paris. He was interviewed by police but they didn’t have any evidence against him.
The disappeared in A6
Their case was the first in what became known as the ‘Disappeared in A6’, a series of murders and disappearances of girls and women along the A6 highway.
Pascal Jardin was convicted for the murder of Christelle Bletry who was one of the murdered women in that area. His DNA was found on the victim. He killed her with 123 stab wounds. The families of Marie-Agnès and Francoise hope that one day he will confess as to whether he had anything to do with their daughters’ disappearance.
Another suspect was Yves Nadin who was arrested after picking up Patricia, a hitchhiker in 1993 and trying to strangle her with a cord. He was the brother of Marc Nadin who murdered another young woman in a village in 1975. Yves drove off when he thought that Patricia was dead but fortunately she was still alive and managed to alert the authorities.
At the time of their disappearance, the construction of the highway on their way to Aix-les-Bains was underway. Some believe that the two young women may be buried under the concrete along the highway A6.
